Harold & Kumar go to White Castle (2004)

Written by Rick Mauer

A ridiculously stupid movie, but I loved every minute of it. It's pretty much everything you'd expect in a stupid comedy. Drugs, naked chicks, nothing making sense, and even the scene where a character inevitably gets stuck in the bathroom while someone else is taking a massive dump.

All the movie is about is Harold and Kumar get stoned one night, get the munchies and, after seeing a commercial, decide they have to have White Castle and will settle for nothing less. Of course, on the way, a whole bunch of shit goes wrong and they run into a bunch of different people and have a bunch of wacky adventures.

There's a good bit of racial humour in the movie, but it's all in good fun and nothing is offensive in that sense. A lot of the humour is over the top, and it comes about in what are some pretty much ridiculous situations that would never happen, that's why I refer to a lot of things in the movie as ‘stupid'. They go too far a few times, and things become just too dumb to even laugh at, but for the most part, I got some good chuckles in. One thing that should be commended is that they were able to get a lot of funny stuff in without making a lot of raunchy sex jokes. Of course, that doesn't mean it's a safe one for little kids, because there's quite a bit of profanity.

I think it's really hard to give a good review on a comedy movie. Different people laugh at different things, and sometimes it depends on your mood. I'm sure a lot of people will find the movie to be just too stupid. It's not a timeless classic comedy like the original Dumb and

Dumber, and you're certainly not missing anything if you don't catch this film. However, it is a solid good time when you're watching it, and I found myself slipping ‘balls' into my sentences with a bit of regularity after watching it. If you're just up for a little bit of stupid fun, this is a good movie to rent.
